I was, at the time, working at All About Pets Pet Hospital in
Provo, Utah looking for a new job. I had put in my resume to a lot of animal
clinics hoping I would get a new job soon. I had put applied from anywhere from
Provo, Utah to Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah just waiting. Waiting patiently.
After a few months gone by I didn't hear back from any of the places I had
applied for. So I gave up looking for a little while. Around this time (March
2011) I had asked my mom to look up a bunch of animal clinics that were hiring
and to print them off. That way on my next day off I could drive around and
personally give these clinics my resume. I made sure to look "good"
as well.
I called all of these clinics my mom printed off for me, asking if
they were hiring for a receptionist/vet tech position. Most of them said they
had already filled the position but I could still bring in my resume and
they'll keep it on hand for when they hire again. I finally got to Lone Peak
Veterinary Hospital in Draper, Utah. I called them and the lady on the phone
told me they were looking for a veterinary technician position only and I'm
more than welcome to bring in a resume to them.
I drove over to Lone Peak Veterinary Hospital in Draper, Utah and
took my resume into them. I walked in and told one of the receptionists that I
just called and was told there was an opening for veterinary technician
position and I would like to drop off my resume. Well one of the receptionists
told me that the office manager was there and I could talk to her if I would
like. So the receptionist grabbed the office manager and she came out and
talked to me. She told me that if I would like to come back on another day I
could come back and have an interview. I told her I could do Tuesday's because
I am currently working at another place and those are my days off. So we
scheduled it for a Tuesday.
I came back in like 2 weeks for my interview. The office manager,
Carrie, was there along with the team leader, Jessica. I thought that was a bit
odd because the actual owner/boss wasn't there, but to each their own I guess.
They talked to me, asked me a bunch of questions and boy oh boy was I nervous.
I for sure thought I was bombing everything they asked. My interview lasted
about an hour or so, then they said "Okay, well we would like to do a
working interview with you. It would be for a couple of hours. Would you like
to come back on this day in the morning from about 9:00 am to about 1:00
pm?" I told them I would be there.
Well that day came, I showed up about 15 minutes early and was
ready to start my working interview with them. Jessica brought me to the back
and introduced me to everyone there. Krissy, Shaye, Janna, Michelle, Adam,
Tara, KC, Ranie, and of course BRAXTON. A little intimidating because once I
was told their names, I forgot them too. So I didn't know who to talk to, who
to ask questions to, etc. So I just sat there while Jessica had me monitor a
patient who was under anesthesia. The procedure was a dental. It was a little
nerve wracking because I had never done this before, I have never done a
working interview so I wanted to take notes. I wanted to make sure I was doing
everything right, for what I was being told. 1:00 pm came around and that was
the end of my working interview. Carrie and Jessica had told me "Thank you
for coming. We'll keep in touch." I for sure thought that was the end of
that.
About a week went by. I checked my phone every second I got hoping
I didn't miss a phone call. Of course, there were no missed phone calls from
Lone Peak Veterinary Hospital. I for sure thought I wasn't going to hear from
them. I got a phone call from Carrie saying they were pleased with how I work
and wanted to offer me a full time vet tech job. I told her I was flattered and
asked if it would be okay if I took about a day or two to think about it and
make sure it was the job for me. She, of course, said that was fine just get
back to her soon because they need the position filled soon. About 2 days
passed and I called them back saying I would love to take the job. Carrie asked
me when I could start. I told her I could start April 11, 2011 because I would
have to give my 2 weeks notice.
April 11, 2011 came and I started at Lone Peak Veterinary
Hospital. I saw Braxton and thought "wow.. He's a pretty good
looking kid.. I'm going to try and get him to talk to me". Braxton was
shy, and wanted nothing to do with me. He didn't really talk to me for about a
month or two. I tried to talk to him and all I would get out of him were one
word answers. Pretty pathetic I thought. Well 2 of our co-workers were engaged
and their wedding was coming up (July 2, 2011). Braxton was in their line. Adam
& Braxton came to me asking if I would work that Saturday for Braxton so he
could be at the wedding. I of course said yes. After work, me, Krissy and Janna
went to Adam and Ranie's reception. That was the start of everything....
Braxton & I danced once and then we stayed with each other
basically the whole night. We talked for hours out in his truck. Then we walked
around outside for a little bit as well. Since then, Braxton was like a roller
coaster. One week he would like me and talk to me a bunch, the next week he
wanted nothing to do with me and wouldn't say much to me. It was like that for
a while. Up, down, up, down, up, down for MONTHS. New years came along and we
went to Adam and Ranie's house together. We didn't kiss when 12:00 rolled
around (which was fine). Then the roller coaster came back. Up, down, up, down,
up, down, up down, until March 16, 2012 came around and that is when Braxton
finally asked me on a date. Since then, we have been inseparable. March 30,
2012 Braxton asked me to be his girlfriend....
That is how Braxton & I met. Like I said above, since then we
have been inseparable.
